CLOTHING STYLE :: Like many wealthy families, Astoria is an advocate of 'Twilfitt and Tattings' and other, upper-class tailors. All her clothing is in very good taste, fashionable, feminine, and well fitted. She never dresses in vulgar styles, and rarely touches bold colours, or outrageous patterns and prints. Overall, she is quite conservative, putting more emphasis on femininity and her accessories. A simple, tailored skirt or trouser suit for work might for example, be paired with more extravagant, drop earrings. She does love her jewellery, but also has a penchant for her other love - shoes.
Outside of work, Astoria favours skirts and dresses over jeans which are more associated with muggles. Her parents raised her strictly under pureblood traditions, so certain habits are difficult to kick. In the presence of family and other notable families, she's more likely to be seen in elegant robes. Her dress robes are often trimmed / embellished with delicate lace, jewels, beads or velvet. Aside from emerald and forest green, she tends to favour monochrome colours, various shades of purple, and rich, sapphire blue.

[li]Werewolves[/li] Ever since she was a child, the stories of Fenrir Greyback stealing children away from their families and biting them to spread his Lycan curse, scared the living daylight out of her. Since then, she has always feared Lycanthropy to the point of speculating their role in the wizarding world. Despite Wolfsbane Potion, their potentially dangerous and savage nature is, in her opinion, too much of a risk. She therefore doesn't struggles to support any political move to support Werewolves, and would rather that their identities be known to the public as a safety measure.

Initial perceptions of Astoria Greengrass often have her labelled as a typical, pure-blood Slytherin. Upon further acquaintance though, her traits set her aside from the likes of Yaxley, Black, and other notorious families. In general, she is subtle and demure, preferring to be in the background rather than soaking up the limelight. If people remember her from Hogwarts, then it's probably as 'Daphne's quiet little sister.' Always in the shadow of her older sister, it was difficult to outshine her, and in many ways, she often never really tried to.
Since leaving Hogwarts, Astoria has come into her own as a young adult. Career-minded and focused, she definitely possesses the Slytherin resourcefulness and ambition. Once she has her mind set on a goal, she will be determined to the point of stubborn, but she also possesses ample patience. She remains a thinker rather than a doer though, owning a more philosophical outlook on life, and lacking spontaneity. She is also very conservative and subtle, valuing a sense of harmony. As a firm believer in trust and loyalty, she keeps a very close-knit group of friends rather than a large circle. She is still quite quiet and introverted, especially in larger groups, but she can be social - especially around those who pique her interest. In fact, she'll do almost anything for a good friend, but once her good opinion is lost - especially by someone she trusts, it can be very hard to work your way back into her good graces. Her sense of humor is quite dry, so she is often mistaken as bland and far too mature for her years. Rather than try to be someone she's not though, she simply commits to her nature. Few people realise that she actually likes to smile and enjoy the finer pleasures life has to offer, such as good company, relaxation and an appreciation for the arts.

HISTORY
As the youngest Greengrass child, the pure-blooded Astoria grew up in the priviledged lap of luxury. Despite their wealth though, her parents were a mix of old money on the paternal side, and new money on the maternal side. With her father a 'lawyer on the rise' for the Wizengamot, and her mother working for the Ministry's Department of Magical Education, both Astoria and her sister were taught that reward can only be gained through hard work, perseverance, and patience. Childhood naivity was therefore cut short, as she was homeschooled from the age of five in the three, core subjects: english, maths, and science. Her parents encouraged academia and personal development, so when she took a shine to classical music, they allowed her to pursue lessons in the violin, and then her more favoured instrument - the cello. Music became her creative outlet, but was never accepted as a main, academic focus by her parents. 'A musician's career is a life of poverty,' they would sternly tell her.
When she was eleven years old, Astoria received her letter from Hogwarts, as expected. Her older sister, Daphne, was already about to enter her third year. In her letters home, she had raved about being sorted into Slytherin with other children of the prestiguous, 'sacred twenty-eight' families, such as the Malfoys, Flints, Bulstrodes, and Parkinsons. By now, she had made friends with each of them, making both Cyrus and Cecilia Greengrass very proud. There was no question about it, Astoria had to be sorted into Slythin as part of the Greengrass family tradition. When the sorting hat debated over Hufflepuff though (after all, the Yaxley's had a history with Hufflepuff), Astoria begged to be placed in the House that would make her father proud. It was a decision she would later regret.
In her first year, Astoria excelled in Astronomy and Transfigurations - the latter being more to her father's approval. She also enjoyed learning about the History of Magic, and Potions - even though when the theory was put into practice, her potions were not always the most successful. Making friends was difficult, and often she preferred her own company. Daphne formed part of Pansy Parkinson's bullying crowd, which automatically made the students in Astoria's year group weary of her - even though the two sisters were infact, very different.
The Tri-wizard tournament occurred during her her second year at Hogwarts, but unlike the other girls, Astoria wasn't smitten with Viktor Krum. She cheered for him though, but only because her first real crush was on another Durmstrang boy - Dragomir Nikolov. When her sister found out though, she was teased enough to push her back into a quiet, insecure and reserved shell.
In her third year, Astoria witnessed her mother torn between her career, and her own beliefs. Despite disagreeing with Dolores Umbridge's opinions and methods in education, Cecilia Greengrass was nonetheless forced to wear a public facade in order to maintain her job at the ministry. Keeping her head down as the year unfolded around her, Astoria choose Arithmancy, Divination, and the Study of Ancient Runes as her additional classes. Towards the end of school year, the ministry finally confirmed that the dark lord had returned. At only thirteen years old though, Astoria already knew the truth. Her father was very vocal at home about his hatred for mudbloods, and had even been present during the trial of Harry Potter. Unfortunately, his wish to condemn 'the boy who lies' was outvoted by those swayed by Dumbledore's words. Astoria had been as quiet at home as she was at school, preferring to stay out of the firing line altogether. Her father expected her support, and so she was sworn to secrecy for the protection of him and the rest of family. Unlike her father though, she didn't really hate muggles. In fact, she didn't understand why they were deemed so inferior. A muggle-born Ravenclaw in her class was brilliant at Charms, and similarly, a muggle-born Gryffindor excelled in Herbology. Though sometimes jealous of them, she was never resentful, because like her, they worked hard, and that was a trait she could ultimately respect.
Astoria's forth school year marked the beginning of a more obvious change at Hogwarts and beyond. The cold war was reaching boiling point, and she could see that others were starting to view her with suspicion. Were the Greengrass family in league with the Dark Lord? Her family had a knack for being subtle, and so far, her father had not been unmasked. The end of her school year was marked by the sudden death of Dumbledore, but unlike some Slytherins, she did not rejoice in the loss of such a great Wizard.
Astoria's fifth year at Hogwarts was disturbed by the Second Wizarding War. Caught in a war between adults and older teenagers, it was impossible to focus on her studies when other students sent hateful looks her way. She heard of the punishments and saw the graffiti for Dumbledore's Army, but she never had the courage to speak up against the death eaters who now ruled the school. For her own, selfish preservation, it was safer to just keep her head down. Before Christmas though, she witnessed a teacher using the cruciatus curse on a forth year Gryffindor, finally prompting her to speak up. It earned her a vicious slap for being a 'pureblood betrayer' and then a second scolding from her father. She didn't speak up again.
After the Christmas break, Astoria refused to go back to Hogwarts. Although she had her mother's support, her father personally made sure that she was on the train, representing the Greengrass name alongside her sister. In the months leading up to the Battle of Hogwarts, she begun to steal ingredients from the potions cabinet to make calming draughts for the younger students caught in the firing line. Eventually she was caught, reprimanded, and given detention. When her mother found out that the cruciatus curse had been used on her own daughter, she finally took her out of the school. A rift developed between her parents, who argued constantly. Cyrus claimed that he was helping to build a better future, whereas Cecilia struggled to cope with his bloodied hands. Despite his wife pleading him to reconsider, Cyrus fought for the Dark Lord at the Battle of Hogwarts, where he ultimately met his end.
After the battle and the demise of the Voldemort, the broken fragments of Astoria's life finally started to piece back together. As a gesture of goodwill and an attempt to wipe clean the family name, her mother donated funds to aid the repair of Hogwarts, earning her a place among the new board of school governors. Having studied at home, Astoria was able to take her OWLs at the end of July. Despite being predicted five O grades, she only achieved three.
